WhatsApp, one of the most used messaging applications in the world, announced that the application will not work on some old model phones as of May 1, 2025.
Meta, which publishes the list of these devices, explained that the application cannot be used due to the lack of compliance with software requirements.
According to Meta’s statement, the causes of this change include performance problems, safety risks and factors that adversely affect user experience.
WhatsApp will support only iOS 15.1 and more from May 1, 2025. This means that devices with old iOS versions cannot access the application. Users will not be able to use WhatsApp after this date. The update will affect millions of users with old iPhone models. The devices that cannot receive updates or remain in old iOS versions are among those who will suffer the most from this decision.
