Donald Trump writes of air strikes against the “Islamic State”. Several media have to clear their offices in the Ministry of Defense. All developments in the news blog.

7:51 p.m.: According to the government of US President Donald Trump, Ukraine is to make up for its elections exposed to war law as soon as possible. This should be done by the end of the year and especially in the event of an armistice with Russia, said Trump’s Ukraine representative Keith Kellogg from the Reuters news agency. Insiders fear that this could use Russia. Read more about this here.

6:50 p.m.: US President Donald Trump has apparently ordered air strikes against destinations of the terrorist group “Islamic State”, or “IS” or “ISIS” in Somalia. Trump writes “military precision attacks” against the leading ISIS attack planner and other terrorists in Somalia, writes Trump on his network “Truth Social”.

“These killers, who kept themselves hidden in caves, threatened the United States and our allies. The attacks destroyed the caves in which they live, and killed many terrorists without harming civilians,” continued Trump. Trump has not announced details about the exact number of victims or the exact location of the attack. Also, his information cannot currently be checked independently.

In his contribution from the previous government under Joe Biden, Trump once again blames serious allegations. He concludes with the sentence: “The message to ISIS and everyone else who wants to attack Americans is: ‘We will find you and we will kill you!'” The last sentence puts Trump in capital letters.

The presence of IS in Somalia is relatively low compared to the Islamist Shebab militia, which is close to the Al-Qaida terror network. But experts warn of growing activities.

4:14 p.m.: The government of President Donald Trump announces that it wants to remove four US media organizations from the offices assigned to them in the Pentagon. The reason for this is to want to create space for other media representatives.

The “New York Times”, National Public Radio (NPR), NBC News and the online newspaper “Politico” are affected by the decision. In a memo of the Pentagon about a “New Annual Media Rotation Program” it says that the media representatives would have to clear their rooms by February 14th.

In their place, the “New York Post”, “One America News Network”, “Breitbart News Network” and “Huffpost News” would receive the office space. Two of the new news agencies are conservative, the Huffpost is rather progressive. “Breitbart News” is meanwhile considered an ultra -law medium that spreads conspiracy theories. With the current decision, Trump’s Defense Minister Pete Hegseth apparently also wants to set an example – and possibly prefer to have a positive media representative on site.

As the Deputy Minister of Defense Assistant for Public Affairs, John Ullyot, explains, the four media organizations still remain full-fledged members of the Pentagon Pressing Corps. Every year, a media company in the field of print, online, TV or radio should now clear his office so that a new medium can move in and thus get the opportunity to report as a resident of the Pentagon press corps.
