In an interview with the British “Financial Times” a few hours before the polls closed in the USA, Trump said, according to the newspaper, that the USA had no immediate plans for an attack. “We seem to be getting everything we want,” said the president about the current status of the conflict with the Islamic Republic.

Citizens in Washington vote to ban foie gras

In the US capital Washington Eligible voters will also decide whether to ban the delicacy foie gras. The referendum is about banning the sale, distribution and import of the specialty, which is primarily known from French cuisine. Force-feeding birds to enlarge their livers should also be banned.

To make foie gras, ducks and geese have large amounts of high-calorie food forced through a tube into their stomachs. This causes the liver to swell significantly and its fat content to increase. The sale or practice is already banned in some US cities and many countries, including Germany and Switzerland.
