Trump introduces new ICE director
US President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he has selected Lance Schroyer as the new director of the immigration agency ICE. “Lance has more than 29 years of law enforcement experience in Oklahoma,” Trump wrote. He called on the US Senate to confirm the nomination immediately. Schroyer is currently an advisor to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin. He is expected to succeed Todd Lyons, whom Trump appointed as acting head of ICE in March 2025. Lyons left the post in May 2026, a few weeks after the firing of former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

US President Donald Trump has presented a revised design of the announced special passport for the 250th anniversary of American independence. On Truth Social he published a passport page on which he himself can be seen in large format in front of the text of the Declaration of Independence. The design differs from an earlier draft that featured a classic portrait of the president. Trump wrote on Truth Social: “Welcome, but be good!”
The White House later published the same representation on Platform X. It initially remained unclear whether the motif shown was the final design of the special pass. The US State Department responded to a request from the broadcaster CNN not at first.
The special pass was announced in April and is intended to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the country’s independence USA remember.
