Trump: Maybe US envoy in the middle of the week in Russia

There are only a few days left for a deadline that Trump has set Kremlin chief Putin. Shortly before, an important meeting of his US specialist could take place in Russia.
US President Donald Trump probably sends his special sent Steve Witkoff to Russia in the middle of the week. Witkoff will travel there “maybe Wednesday or Thursday”, Trump said to journalists before a return flight to Washington.
That would be immediately before the end of a 10-day period that Trump had set to Russian President Vladimir Putin. During this time, a ceasefire between Russia and the Ukraine attacked by Moscow is to be achieved. The shortened deadline has been running since Tuesday – afterwards Trump wants to impose sanctions against Russia’s trading partners.
With his customs threat, the US President wants to further weaken the economic basis of the Kremlin, in particular that large buyers in the energy sector such as China and India are increasingly under pressure.
Russia has been waging a war against its neighboring country for more than three years.
