The world is waiting for a new US-Russian summit in Budapest to end the war in Ukraine. Meanwhile, the parliament in Kyiv is extending martial law until 2026.

Ukraine has extended the current martial law and mobilization period by 90 days until early February 2026. A clear two-thirds majority of parliament voted for the bills submitted by President Volodymyr Zelensky, the press service of the Supreme Rada in Kiev reported. Both measures would have expired on November 5th.

After the Russian attack in February 2022, martial law was declared in the Eastern European country for an initial 30 days and mobilization was ordered and has been regularly extended since then. Conscript men between the ages of 22 and 60 can only leave the country with a few exceptions. In August, the previous ban on leaving the country for men between 18 and 22 was lifted, which led to an increase in the number of young men leaving the country, including to Germany.
