The dispute between Donald Trump and Giorgia Meloni is entering the next round. Now the US President is joking on social media that an injunction is necessary.
US President Donald Trump has stepped up in the public dispute with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. In a social media post, he suggested that Meloni was stalking him. The head of government even received support from the domestic opposition.
This is what Trump posted on his social network Truth Social a picture in which Meloni seems to be looking at him longingly. Above it is written in English “Interim injunction necessary”. This is usually issued against people who persistently pursue other people and can only be deterred from doing so by a ban on contact.
In Italy one shows oneself outraged. Carlo Calenda, leader of the opposition Azione party, called Trump a “disgusting cheap bully” on Italian broadcaster Rai News.

Trump’s post is just the latest tip in a dispute with Meloni. After both seemed to get along very well at the beginning of Trump’s second term in office, the relationship changed in the last few months. Trump initially criticized Meloni because Italy’s participation was too low NATO criticized. When he later criticized the Pope, Meloni jumped to the Catholic leader’s defense.
As a result, Trump repeatedly fired shots at Meloni before the G7 summit France an alleged debate came about. However, Trump subsequently claimed that Meloni had begged him for a photo and that he felt sorry for her. The Italian head of government rejected the statements as “completely made up”. This was followed by several spikes from both sides.
