Journalists and researchers, among others, use such satellite images to document, for example, the consequences of attacks in the region or the movement of ships. The recordings are particularly useful for areas that are otherwise difficult to access – be it because of their location, ongoing fighting or restrictions by local authorities.
Planet Labs had already delayed the publication of recordings from the region for security reasons after the start of the Iran war a good five weeks ago. The competitor company Vantor has also already restricted the publication of satellite images from the region, the reports continued. The US government fears that current satellite images could be used by opponents such as Iran for their attacks.

According to a report in Iran there are airstrikes in an area where the missing crew member of the downed US fighter jet is said to be. The Revolutionary Guards-affiliated Tasnim news agency quoted a local governor overnight as saying three people had been killed in attacks he attributed to the United States and Israel.

The Gulf state of Kuwait has again come under Iranian fire. The state news agency Kuna reported, citing the ministry, that an Iranian drone hit a Finance Ministry building and caused significant material damage. There were no injuries, it was said.
