Trump speaks openly about the use of his military. The Foreign Office warns about the situation in Iran. All developments in the news blog.

Iran’s Persian Gulf neighbors and its foe Israel now see conflict as more likely than agreement, these sources say, as Washington mounts one of its largest military buildups in the region since the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

The Israeli government believes Tehran and Washington are at an impasse and is making preparations for a possible joint military action with the United States, although no decision has yet been made on whether to carry out such an operation, a source familiar with the planning said.

US President Donald Trump says he is considering a “limited military strike” against Iran if there is no agreement in the nuclear dispute between Tehran and Washington. Asked whether he would consider a limited military attack if Iran did not agree to a “deal,” Trump told reporters on Friday: “The only thing I can say is that I’m considering it.”

In the nuclear dispute between the two countries, the US government is maintaining its threats of attack, while Iran is reaffirming its claim to uranium enrichment. Washington has recently massively expanded its military presence in the Gulf region. Among other things, Trump sent two aircraft carriers to the region.

At the beginning of February, the USA and Iran resumed negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program with the mediation of Oman. At their talks in Geneva this week, both sides made it clear that talks should continue, even if differences remain.

Due to the risk of escalation between the USA and Iran, the Foreign Office has reiterated security instructions and the request for Germans in the country to leave the country, which has been in place since November 2022. A ministry spokesman in Berlin urged German nationals to leave Iran.
