Trump sets a record for budget freezes. The US government is pushing ahead with the promotion of fossil fuels. All news in the news blog.

US President Trump has broken a record. During his administration there were more days without a budget than any other president before. When comparing how many days of a shutdown are assigned to a US head of state, Trump is now leading with 57 days, ahead of Jimmy Carter, who had 56 days. However, in the comparison by the news portal Axios, shutdown days of all of a person’s terms of office are added together.

Barack Obama, who like Trump served two terms, needed just 16 days during his eight years in the White House. As of today, the current shutdown has lasted 22 days, which would still be third behind Bill Clinton, during whose term the government had no budget for 26 days. Like George W. Bush, Joe Biden was able to avoid a budget freeze.

US President Donald Trump will not send federal security forces to San Francisco to enforce his controversial migration and security policies. Trump confirmed an agreement with the mayor of the Californian city, Daniel Lurie, on his network Truth Social on Thursday: “I spoke to Mayor Lurie last night and he very kindly asked me to give him a chance to turn things around.” The people of San Francisco have come together in the fight against crime, especially since he began “taking on this very nasty issue.”

US President Donald Trump’s administration announced a series of measures on Thursday to open up wilderness areas in Alaska for energy production and infrastructure. This includes resuming leasing of licenses for oil and natural gas production in the remote Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The development of the area has been hotly debated between environmentalists and the energy industry for decades.

As part of construction work on a new ballroom in the White House, the east wing of the historic building in Washington has now been almost completely demolished. On Thursday afternoon (local time), only a small remnant of the part of the building built in 1942 was visible in photos. US President Donald Trump announced the day before that this would happen.

Work on the ballroom is expected to be completed before the end of Trump’s second term in January 2029. The Republican emphasized several times in the summer that the new building would not affect the White House. Critics therefore speak of a breach of word. Trump’s spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told reporters that construction plans are changing.
