The USA and Iran have started negotiations. At the same time, the US President is maintaining pressure on the country – with possibly even more military at sea.

According to a media report, US President Donald Trump is considering sending another aircraft carrier to the region in the conflict with Iran. “We have a fleet on the way, and another could follow,” the online portal “Axios” quoted from an interview with the Republican. At the same time, Trump confirmed that the USA could conclude an agreement with Iran.

On Friday, representatives from Tehran and Washington began new negotiations in Oman under strict security precautions. The Gulf state is mediating in the conflict.

The negotiations follow the serious mass protests in Iran, which the state security apparatus brutally suppressed. Trump then threatened the Iranian leadership with military intervention and strengthened the US military presence in the region, including with the aircraft carrier “USS Abraham Lincoln”.

At the same time, there is talk of a new agreement with a view to Iran’s controversial nuclear program. Iran’s leadership remains skeptical about negotiations with the USA.

According to Axios, Trump continued: “Either there will be a deal or we will have to take very tough measures like last time.” In June 2025, Israel waged war against its arch-enemy Iran for twelve days and, together with the USA, bombed Iranian nuclear facilities.

This Wednesday, Trump will receive Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for talks. According to Netanyahu, the meeting at 11 a.m. (local time, 5 p.m. CET) in the White House will primarily focus on the USA’s negotiations with Iran.
