Trump is a ticking time bomb

The sweet talkers are now claiming that the US President just wants to pressure the Europeans to better secure Greenland. But it says a lot about the state of the transatlantic alliance when the real leader of the free world threatens the European NATO members with military force in order to blackmail them politically.

If the US administration sticks to its annexation plans, it would mean the end of NATO. It is unlikely that Trump will actually let things get this far. Not because he respects the Western military alliance, on the contrary: he considers the European NATO members to be scroungers who would not help the USA in an emergency. This statement alone is a disgrace because Denmark, among others, not only stood on the side of the Americans in the fight against the Taliban in Afghanistan after the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, but also had the highest number of victims in relation to the size of the population.

Trump has no respect for Europe.

It’s true: Europe is dependent on the USA – economically and militarily. But it is wrong for Europeans to let this dictate their actions. Ultimately, it only delays the big blow with the US administration. Until such time as Trump actually does something that forces Europeans to rebel. For example, when the US President forces Ukraine to surrender in the war against Russia. Or if Washington blackmails Europe, threatening new tariffs or other things if they don’t change their “Digital Services Act”. So the EU law, which specifies liability and security regulations for the large US digital companies.
