Trump plans to hold a personal meeting with Putin this month. However, he does not consider the Russian president to be responsible for the ongoing war in Ukraine.

According to his own statements, US President Donald Trump will “probably” meet with the Russian ruler Vladimir Putin before the end of the month. Trump said this on Tuesday in front of reporters in his estate Mar-A-Lago in Florida. After the talks between representatives of the United States and Russia in Riad, he was “confident” in relation to an agreement with Moscow to terminate the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine.

During the appearance, Trump gave the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj to blame for the Russian attack war against its country. There is “a leadership in Ukraine that has admitted a war that should never have existed,” said Trump. With a view of Selenskyj, he said: “I like him personally, he’s fine.” But it is not about personal sympathy, but about “the job is done”.

On criticism from Ukraine that the country had not been invited to a meeting between the United States and Russia in Saudi Arabia, Trump reacted mockingly. “I heard today: Oh, we weren’t invited,” said the Republican and pushed after: “Well, you have been there for three years.” The war should have ended long ago, he warned and continued: “You should never have started. You could have done a deal.”

Ukraine has been fitting a Russian invasion for three years with western arms deliveries. Shortly after taking office, Trump had personally contacted Putin, who had started the war. The two agreed talks for a possible peace agreement. The foreign ministers of both countries met in Saudi Arabia to prepare. Ukraine and the European allies have so far been out of the outside with Trump’s alone.

Trump for new elections in Ukraine – like Russia

At his appearance, Trump also claimed that he could have negotiated a deal for Ukraine. After that they would have got “almost the whole country”, “and no people would have been killed and no city would have been destroyed”. What exactly he meant remained open.

In addition, the US President-like Moscow-warned that elections were necessary in Ukraine. No elections would have taken place in Ukraine for a long time, and war law applies, complained Trump. That doesn’t just say Russia. Trump criticized that Selenskyj has low approval values. The country is largely destroyed, people are fed up.

The Russian government is questioning Selenskyj’s legitimacy. Russia argues that its term of office had expired in May last year and that new elections would be necessary in Ukraine. Kyiv, on the other hand, emphasizes that Selenskyj’s powers of powers are further into force through the applicable war law.

France’s President Emmanuel Macron, however, has invited European allies for Wednesday to new consultations in Paris. According to Macron, the meeting should also participate in several European countries in addition to several European countries. Several European top politicians had already met on Monday at the invitation of Macron in Paris, among them Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD). NATO boss Mark Rutte and EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen were also there.

Against the background of the talks between the new US government and Russia, ex-boxing world champion Wladimir Klitschko warned of a dictation peace. A peace that people also longed for in his home country must be fair and have “consequences for the aggressor”, Klitschko said in a conversation round with Chancellor’s head Wolfgang Schmidt (SPD) in Hamburg. A “peace at all costs” is not available with Ukraine.

“We have already paid the price,” said the brother of Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko with reference to the lossy fights in his country. Russia had to feel consequences for the war of aggression in a peace regulation. Otherwise, a further military escalation is threatening Europe at any time. “The aggressor gets more appetite if you don’t defend yourself,” he warned.

The fact that President Donald Trump’s new US government is now talking about Ukraine with Russia without Ukraine, “said Klitschko. Not even that Europeans were left out. “But where Trump is right: we have to take care of ourselves.” That is why a strong Europe and strong Germany are important for Ukraine.
