The US government has clashed with judges due to the deportation of migrants. Now surprisingly, the country’s highest court is also reacting.
US President Donald Trump has attracted the trouble of the U.S.’s Supreme Court of unpleasant judges. “For more than two centuries, it has been clear that an office procedure is not a reasonable response to disagreement about a judicial decision,” said John Roberts, the presiding judge of the Supreme Court. “Appointment procedure are there for this.”
Roberts did not name Trump by name. It rarely happens that the presiding judge publicly comments on daily politics. Trump had previously left his platform Truth Social about judges who are not on a political line with him. They should be removed from the office, said Trump.
During his first term, Trump had already attracted the trouble of the Supreme Court because he questioned the impartiality of judges. Roberts rejected Trump’s allegations at the time and explained: “We have no Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges.” Instead, there is an outstanding group of committed judges who gave their best and treated everyone in court according to the same standards of law. The conservative lawyer Roberts was nominated in 2005 by the then Republican US President George W. Bush.
