In his post on his Truth social media account, US President Trump made statements regarding his meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York. Stating that energy cooperation was discussed during the meeting, Trump said, “We agreed to make a new investment of 200 billion dollars in the USA. We will build American energy and American power throughout our country within the scope of the 350 billion dollar Korea Strategic Trade and Investment Agreement, which I signed with President Lee last year.” Emphasizing that they have turned South Korea’s investment commitments into huge construction projects and tens of thousands of employment opportunities, Trump said, “These are huge energy projects that increase the power capacity in the USA. This means new construction, new production and great job opportunities for American workers.”
“8 nuclear reactors worth 120 billion dollars will be built”
Providing information about the energy investments to be realized in the USA, Trump said, “First of all, our country and South Korea are moving forward with a 120 billion dollar nuclear power program that envisages the construction of 8 large-scale reactors, six of which are ‘Westinghouse AP1000’ and two of which are Korean ‘APR-1400’.” Trump underlined that this project will contribute to the energy security of the USA.
“We decided to work on the 50 billion dollar Alaska LNG project”
Stating that energy cooperation also includes liquefied natural gas, Trump said, “Secondly, the United States and South Korea decided to start working together on the $50 billion Alaska LNG project, which will reveal the tremendous resources of our great state of Alaska, create the new American gas infrastructure, and build it with our great American workers. This project will bring a significant change for the people of Alaska.”
$22 billion natural gas power plant in Texas
Also stating that a huge 6.4 gigawatt natural gas power plant project will be implemented in the Encinal region of Texas, Trump said about this 22 billion dollar project, “It will provide Texas with a tremendous, new and reliable power capacity.”
“The announced projects will provide us with power for generations”
Reiterating that the contributions of these projects to the United States will continue for generations and will provide manufacturing, energy security and employment opportunities, Trump said, “These projects will support the trillions of dollars of investment coming to the United States during my administration, including advanced manufacturing, semiconductors and all the great industries of the future. We are building this capacity here in the United States, and the projects announced today will help power us for generations.” Trump added that investment commitments to the United States are supported by trade agreements.
