Thunberg reaches Egypt and wants to continue sailing to Gaza

The sailing ship of the so -called “Freedom Flotilla” with the Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg on board has reached the coast of Egypt and is now heading towards Gaza Strip. “We are now leaving the Egyptian coast,” said German fellow sailor Yasemin Acar on Saturday of the AFP news agency. “All of us are fine.”
The ship “Madleen” broke out on Sunday from the Italian island of Sicily towards Gaza Strip on Sunday. According to their own statements, the twelve people on board want to “break through” the Israeli blockade for auxiliary deliveries and criticize the ongoing “genocide” in the Gaza Strip with the campaign.
Climate activist Thunberg wanted to travel to the Gaza strips with a ship of the “Freedom Flotilla” at the beginning of May. However, the ship had been damaged on the way. The activists claimed that Israel had attacked the ship with a drone. Thunberg had repeatedly participated in pro-Palestinian protests.
The Gaza War was triggered by the major attack by the radical Islamic Hamas and with it allied fighter on October 7, 2023, in which more than 1,200 people were killed. 251 people were delayed as hostages in the Gaza strips.
Since then, Israel has massively militarily accomplished in the Gaza Strip in response to the Hamas robbery. According to Hamas, more than 54,600 people are said to have been killed. The information cannot be checked. The humanitarian situation in the Palestinian area is classified as dramatic by the UN and aid organizations.
