This is how expensive the US attack on Iran is – after just one week

The USA has been attacking Iran for a week. In addition to many open questions behind the military action, it is also unclear how much it will cost. The first Republicans are concerned.
According to various estimates, the US military operation “Violent Wrath” with air strikes on Iran has already cost several billion dollars in the first 100 hours alone – but the range of assumed costs is large. The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), based in Washington, assumes 3.7 billion dollars (almost 3.2 billion euros) in the first four days. According to its own statements, it is based on the few details that the US Department of Defense has disclosed so far.
The Wall Street Journal newspaper wrote on Friday of almost $11 billion in the first four days, citing Elaine McCusker, who was responsible for the defense budget in the Pentagon during President Donald Trump’s first term in office. According to the newspaper report, these costs also include the stationing of more than twelve ships and 100 aircraft in the Middle East since December.
According to McCusker, the Pentagon has probably deployed interceptor missiles worth around $5.7 billion to defend against Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, as the Wall Street Journal continues. Bombs and other types of missiles accounted for another $3.4 billion. The cost estimate does not include salaries, training or the use of national resources in the region.
“The shift by U.S. forces to lower-cost munitions and the sharp decline in Iranian drone and missile launches will reduce costs,” said the analysis from think tank CSIS on Thursday. “However, future costs will largely depend on the intensity of operations and the effectiveness of Iranian retaliation.” The institute also noted that both Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth indicated on Thursday, the sixth day of the attacks, that the conflict could continue for “weeks.”
According to the US news platform “Politico”, many US Republican MPs expressed concern about the high costs of the war. Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth had previously admitted that the war in the Middle East could last “several weeks”.
