Christiane Schönefeld, the president of the minimum wage commission formed by the German government from employer and workers’ representatives, announced the decision on the minimum wage paid per hour to journalists in Berlin.
Accordingly, the commission, the minimum wage of 12.82 euros, as of next year to the euros of 13.90 euros proposed to be increased. The Commission proposed to increase the minimum wage to 14.60 euros as of January 2027.
Schönefeld said that this decision was unanimously taken.
The legal minimum wage was first determined as gross 8.50 euros per hour in 2015 and increased several times since then.
