After the agricultural frost event, which took place in Türkiye and affected many provinces differently, it was determined that some fruit and vegetable prices were increased. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that after the Cabinet Meeting, they closely followed the process by drawing attention to this issue and that those who cause any manipulation will not be given the opportunity before the damage detection works are completed.
The Ministry of Commerce has intensified its efforts to increase the prices of goods and services that are compulsory to meet the basic needs of the public, such as nutrition, healthy living and protection. In order to ensure supply security, the Ministry closely follows the impact of agricultural products and foodstuffs on supply-demand balance and agricultural frost on prices.
In this context, market inspection and surveillance activities were carried out throughout Türkiye for opportunistic initiatives.
Stock Tracking for Lemon Supply
In the inspections concentrated in 81 provinces, especially the provinces affected by the agricultural frost, 1271 companies and 8 thousand 476 products were examined. In addition, inspections were carried out by the Provincial Directorates of Trade, especially in the companies engaged in lemon trade.
Here, the lemon stock status of the enterprises, stock entry and exit movements, buying and sales prices were examined.
In order to avoid any problems in the supply of lemon in the supply of stock follow -up was followed by the Ministry.
Additional measures and inspections will be implemented
An exorbitant producers, suppliers and retail enterprises with exorbitant price and serious sanctions on the initiatives determined to make stocking are also put into place. In this context, at least 3 times in a calendar year, the workplaces of those who make stocking can be closed up to 6 days.
In line with the revaluation rate this year, exorbitant prices to apply 143 thousand 930 pounds and 1 million 439 thousand 300 pounds, stocking initiatives can be applied between 1 million 439 thousand 300 pounds and 17 million 271 thousand 600 pounds.
In the future, the protection of food supply and safety, the citizen at reasonable prices to ensure the transportation of food, in order to prevent manipulative price movements in the market, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, especially the stake of relevant institutions will be implemented with additional measures and inspections.
In this context, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry focuses on the determination of damage after the agricultural frost and continues to work to meet the damages of the producers affected negatively.
