According to insider details, the United States has prohibited its nuclear suppliers to sell the equipment for Chinese nuclear power plants. The US Ministry of Trade has ordered the corresponding licenses to complain about the corresponding licenses in the past few days, said four people of the Reuters news agency to be familiar with the matter. This applies to the export of parts and equipment used in nuclear power plants. Two of the people stated that shops worth hundreds of million dollars were affected.

The USA and China are in the clinch. The two world’s largest economies agreed on a 90-day agreement on May 12 to withdraw some of the mutually imposed tariffs in the three-digit amount. However, this is on shaky legs. It is unclear whether the telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping will affect the export licenses from Thursday. According to Trump in London, trade talks with China are planned again next Monday.

The US Ministry of Trade did not respond to an inquiry about the restrictions on nuclear equipment. Last week, a spokesman said that the Ministry was checking exports from strategically significant goods to China. “In some cases, the Ministry of Commerce has exposed existing export licenses or imposed additional license requirements while the review is running,” said the spokesman. Export licenses of the US Ministry of Trade typically apply to four years and contain information on the approved quantities and goods values.

New US trade talks with China on Monday

Rain high representatives of the United States and China will meet for further trading talks in London, according to US President Donald Trump on Monday. The US delegation will be headed by Finance Minister Scott Bessent, Minister of Commerce Howard Lutnick and the trade officer Jamieson Greer, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. Trump had agreed the new round of talks on Thursday in a phone call with the Chinese state and party leader Xi Jinping- initially without a specific location and time of the meeting.

According to Trump, the talks are about discussing subtleties of a trade agreement between the two largest economies in May. China had expressed much more cautiously after the telephone call of the two heads of state and the United States warned to adhere to the mutual agreements of the agreement. The Chinese side seriously and conscientiously implemented the agreement, explained Beijing.

Trump has been a tough trading policy course for China since taking office. In the meantime, the Republican had increased punitive tariffs on imports from China to the United States in several steps to dizzying 145 percent, whereupon Beijing reacted with counter -tariffs. In mid -May, both sides agreed on a break of the escalation spiral at a meeting in Switzerland and at least temporarily agreed to reduce punitive tariffs.
