Gavin Newsom is in front of Trump in polls. U.S. unemployment has reached its maximum since 2021. All developments in the news blog.

California governor Gavin Newsom is clearly ahead of US President Donald Trump in two surveys by YouGov. Both surveys see Newsoms lead over five points.

Newsom had recently created publicly with Trump, most recently in the dispute over constituency cuts. Many experts firmly assume that Newsom 2028 will compete as the Democrats presidential candidate. In June he said: “I’m not thinking about starting. But it is a way that could arise.”

Trump himself is not allowed to compete again, but had repeatedly brought this option into play and even drives fan articles with inscriptions such as “Trump 2028”.

US President Donald Trump had promised an economic boom-but unemployment in the United States continues to increase. In August, the rate grew by 0.1 percentage points to 4.3 percent, as the Office for Labor Market Statistics announced on Friday in Washington. This has been the highest level since 2021. Trump had released Trump Head of the Office in July and nominated a followers as the successor. However, the Trump-loyal economist EJ Antoni has not yet been in office. He is also faced with media allegations that he had expressed sexist attitudes in online services and to employees.

Meanwhile, the situation on the US labor market is less rosy than the government hoped for. According to the information, 22,000 jobs in the United States were created in August – this is not even a third of the 75,000 jobs that experts had expected, according to the Marketwatch financial market institute. In addition, more jobs were canceled than created, including in US authorities, mining and in oil and gas production.

On Thursday, figures from the wage data service provider ADP had already confirmed the trend. According to this, private companies in the United States created 54,000 jobs in August, only around half of what was achieved in July. Economists explain uncertainty with Trump’s aggressive customs policy. On the other hand, he claims that the economy has been experiencing a “boom” since taking office in January.
