In London, Western heads of state and government advise on further development in the Ukraine War. The British Prime Minister Keir Starmer then finds urgent words.

The British Prime Minister Keir Starmer sees Europe after the latest developments in the Ukraine War “on a crossroads” of history. It was no longer the moment to just talk, said Starmer after a summit of western heads of state and government in London. It was time to act, take responsibility and show leadership.

The top politicians agreed that a group of European nations will work out a peace plan for a ceasefire in Ukraine. This should then be discussed with the USA and the government of President Donald Trump. Strander emphasized the importance of continuing to have the backing of the United States. On Friday there was an unprecedented dusting between Trump and the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj on Friday.

Europe had to do the hard work, but in order to secure peace, “this commitment must have a strong support from the United States,” said Strandmer. Great Britain and France had repeatedly confirmed that they wanted to provide soldiers for a peace force. Following the idea, the mission would also have to be secured by the USA to keep Russia in check. Strander said that a possible ceasefire agreement should not be a paper tiger, but must be able to be able to guarantee militarily if necessary.

“We will continue to develop a coalition of the willing to defend an agreement in Ukraine and guarantee peace,” said Starmer. “Not every nation will feel able to contribute to it, but that must not mean that we lean back.”
