“Central and Provincial Organization 2026 Pre-Harvest Coordination and Evaluation Meeting” organized by TMO in Erzincan on 11-14 May started.
At the meeting held in a hotel in the city, evaluations will be made regarding the 2026 production season and TMO will prepare for the new procurement period.
TMO General Manager Ahmet Güldal, in his speech here, said that they closely follow the grain and pulse markets in Türkiye and the world.
Stating that TMO is the only representative of the World Grain Association in Türkiye, Güldal said, “When there are any price changes, foreign trade measures, export and import restrictions of agricultural products related to grains and legumes, which are basic consumption items, in any country in the world, we follow it instantly and determine the needs of our country and the point where our country should stop accordingly. Of course, we allow the export of some products within the country, especially in periods of excess supply. We import some products and allow their import. The basis for this is, “Our 86 million population and 60 million tourist guests in Türkiye do not, have not, and hopefully will not experience any problems with food supply.” he said.
Expressing that Türkiye has a strong agricultural infrastructure, Güldal said, “Turkey is and has always been prepared to be self-sufficient, especially in times of emergency, crisis, drought and similar events, and in periods when logistics problems occur in the world. It is now in a much stronger state of preparation. Of course, market stability is very important in agricultural products. This stability starts from the producer and must go all the way to the consumer. The Soil Products Office has a duty at all these stages. We are with our producers during the harvest period, we have to be with them.” he said.
Governor Hamza Aydoğdu also said that the city’s strongest side is agriculture and animal husbandry.
Pointing out the importance of production, Aydoğdu said, “Erzincan is very good in agriculture and animal husbandry. We are trying to develop this place, we are trying to develop greenhouse farming. We have a greenhouse that produces 28 tons per decare. Hopefully, we are currently planning to build another 200 decares. When we increase the greenhouse area here to 2 thousand decares, Erzincan will be the greenhouse base of Eastern Anatolia, the Black Sea and Central Anatolia in this sense. We have these opportunities. Greenhouses built throughout the history of the Republic.” “It is 600 decares, we added 600 decares to it in the last 2 years with our mayor.” he said.
Mayor Bekir Aksun, TMO central and provincial organization managers, relevant public institution managers, union and chamber presidents attended the meeting.
