Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, in his statement last night upon MSCI’s warning, said, “Taking into account the evaluations of international index providers, the information flow has been strengthened with the regulations of the Capital Markets Board, and the final shareholding has become more transparent.” he said.

Stating that additional steps will be taken without delay by closely monitoring the results of the regulations and consulting with all stakeholders, Minister Şimşek stated that their priorities are to ensure the liquidation of problematic funds and protect the rights of investors.

Minister Şimşek’s statement is as follows;

“Important regulations that increase transparency in capital markets and strengthen investor confidence are made by the relevant institutions. Taking into account the evaluations of international index providers, the information flow has been strengthened and final shareholding has become more transparent with the regulations of the Capital Markets Board.

With the Fund Guide announced at the end of August, hedge funds were able to disclose their portfolios weekly and to announce the exceeding or falling below of certain shareholding thresholds in funds traded on TEFAS. Concentration limits were imposed on funds.

It became mandatory for borrowing transactions to be carried out in organized markets and with collateral.

By closely monitoring the results of the regulations, necessary additional steps will be taken without delay in consultation with all our stakeholders. Our priority is to complete the liquidation of problematic funds and protect the rights of investors.

Sanctions will be applied decisively against those who disrupt the fair and competitive functioning of the markets.

We plan to complete the legal regulations that will strengthen the fight against capital market crimes, including coordinated transactions of funds, by the beginning of 2027. Our goal is to create a transparent, reliable and effective capital market where investor rights are protected.”
