There is a key date to change the car insurance. But in the event of damage, a special right of termination applies. Should you use that?
After damage to the vehicle, you can change your car insurance immediately. But is that worth it in any case? The differences in price, performance and service are high.
There are some cases in which a special right of termination applies to the car insurance. When changing the vehicle, an increase in contributions or a damage event, November 30th is the only possible exchange day.
The special right of termination in the event of damage applies as soon as the insurer has paid the damage. The change period of insurance is one month by special right of termination and begins if the old insurance company has sent the insurer to the conclusion of the regulation of the damage. In the letter of termination, the reason for the change of insurance must be stated “after damage”.
Not only car owners have a right in the event of damage to terminate the number. Many insurers do not know that they can also be terminated by society itself. There is also a period of four weeks from the conclusion of the damage settlement. In practice, however, it is rare that insurers make use of the special right of termination in the event of damage.
It is not always advisable to terminate the insurance company in the event of damage. Anyone who causes damage will receive a downgrade in the damage-free class (SF class). That means higher contributions. If a discount protection has been agreed with the insurer, the downgrading is no longer necessary. However, this regulation only applies to the current insurer. If you change the insurance, the new provider usually classifies it.
Terminations are also only advisable if you have previously clarified whether the vehicle in liability is covered with insurance sums between 50 and 100 million euros and can also be insured in the comprehensive area. Problems may occur with expensive and unusual vehicle models, especially with cascosal protection.
