In Istanbul, Russian and Ukrainian delegations meet for new discussions. Selenskyj expresses doubts and criticizes the Russian side.
The Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj criticized the delegation sent by Russia for negotiations at the end of the war. “The level of the Russian delegation is a real deception maneuver,” said Selenskyj of the State Turkish news agency Anadolu before meeting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.
In the afternoon, Russian and Ukrainian representatives in Istanbul are supposed to come together for talks. Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin had proposed the negotiations in the Turkish metropolis himself. However, his participation has been off the table since Wednesday evening.
For Russia, a delegation under Putin’s consultant Vladimir Medinski takes part. According to Selenskyj, Ukraine is represented by Foreign Minister, Officials of the Presidential Office as well as military and intelligence representatives. After talking to Erdogan, the next steps should be set.
