The law proposal, which includes regulations on Special Consumption Tax (SCT), was accepted in the Assembly and enacted. Within the scope of the new regulation, there was a remarkable increase in the tax rates of Pick-up type vehicles. SCT rate, which was 4 percent before, was increased to 50 percent for these vehicles.
With the new law, the ratio of SCT in the automobile segment will range from 80 percent to 220 percent. The change will affect many segments, including electric motor hybrid vehicles and some fossil fuel models. However, the most remarkable increase was in the Pick-up class vehicles sold with low tax to date.
The law will enter into force after being published in the Official Gazette. After this stage, the price lists will be updated and the sales price of many Pick-up models will increase significantly.
