Alleged Russian drones were spotted at a research facility on Lake Maggiore. The Italian public prosecutor is investigating for spy.

In Italy, a suspected Russian drone has flown several times through a research complex of the European Union on Lake Maggiore. According to a report by the Italian news agency Ansa, the public prosecutor’s office in nearby Milan has initiated pre -investigations. According to the daily newspaper “Corriere della Sera”, the reconnaissance drone was said to have been traveling five times over the facility last month.

The research center is a joint research center of the EU that has been based on the Italian lake shore in the municipality of ISpra since 1960. There is currently a research project on the security aspects of drones.

The Italian armaments group Leonardo has several factories nearby. There are other such EU research centers in Brussels and Luxembourg.

The news agency, citing judicial circles, continued to report that a formal investigation against unknown persons should be opened on Monday. The suspicion is on spy. The department is responsible for presumably terrorist crimes.
