The chemical weapons convention has been prohibiting development, production, storage, ownership and passing on of chemical fighting materials since 1997. The surveillance allows the independent authority of OPCW (Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons – Organization for the ban on chemical weapons) in the Hague. In Germany, the US Army C-weapons stored in the Depot Clausen in Rhineland-Palatinate, they were withdrawn and destroyed in 1990 in the “Lindwurm” operation. C weapons were first used in Germany in the First World War. The chemist Fritz Haber, who later received the Chemical Nobel Prize for the development of ammonia synthesis at the BASF location in Ludwigshafen for the development of the ammonia synthesis.
