On the occasion of the day of victory in World War II, Russia declared a ceasefire that officially did not agree to Ukraine. The warring parties accuse each other.

According to Kiev, Russia does not hold up the specially explained ceasefire in his war against Ukraine. “Russian forces continue to attack our military data for the entire front line,” wrote the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha on the platform X. Overall, the Russian military has violated more than 700 times against the ceasefire.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Defense in Moscow claimed that the Russian army strictly adhered to the three -day break in fire arranged by Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin and only react to Ukrainian attacks. Putin’s foreign policy advisor Juri Uschakow said that compliance with the ceasefire also depends on how the situation in the war develops further. He confirmed that there were further negotiations with the United States for a solution to the conflict, sometimes also daily.

The Defense Ministry in Moscow continued to say in the Russian area of Kursk. The Russian military complained about 488 Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire by the afternoon.

The ceasefire did not publicly agree to the lead in Kyiv. However, there were reports that the Ukrainian armed forces had received an order for a ceasefire from Kiev. The Ukrainian opposition parliamentary member Olexij Hontscharenko wrote at Telegram that his country tacitly adheres to the three -day ceasefire, despite partly different statements.

The information from the warring parties cannot be checked directly from an independent side. Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian attack war for more than three years.

In three units on the sections of Pokrowsk in the Donetsk area and in South Ukraine, the Ukrainian public service broadcasting was confirmed that the soldiers can only reply the fire. However, artillery shot and drone attacks were carried out in the front area from the Russian side, it said.

The ceasefire set by Putin came into force at the beginning of Thursday. The fire break should apply 72 hours – including Saturday. It covers the days when Russia is reminiscent of Nazi Germany and the end of the Second World War in 1945. The traditional military parade on the Red Square in Moscow is planned this Friday. The weapon show is also an important demonstration of power Moscow. May 9th is the most important holiday in Russia.

Ukraine insisted on its proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in a number of talks with western security advisors. “We have emphasized: A complete and unconditional fire break has to be the first step for a fair and permanent peace,” wrote Kiev Chancellor Andrij Jermak at Telegram. The ceasefire announced by Moscow is only “manipulation” and should only guarantee the security of the military parade in Moscow.

The new Chancellor Günter Sautter was also involved in the talks with the US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Keith Kellogg, the French presidential advisor Emmanuel Bonne and the British national security consultant Jonathan Powell. Defense Minister Rustem Umjerow and Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha also took part in the interviews from the Ukrainian side.

According to Jermak, pressure tools were also discussed if Russia refused to do an ceasefire. A 30-day ceasefire is a test for the seriousness of the Russian side. “If Moscow really wants to peace, it is time to act,” said Jermak. In the event of an escalation, it must be reacted.
