Putin and Trump make calls together

The Russian president and his US colleague have been on the phone several times since Trump’s taking office. Now speak again.
US President Donald Trump and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin make calls with each other. “The conversation is currently underway,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskow, according to the start of the call of the state news agency TASS. After the conversation there will be a message for the press, he said.
The two heads of state had announced the phone call at short notice. “I will talk to the US President today, what can I convey from you?” Putin, in a panel discussion, told the visitors of a strategy. Shortly afterwards, Trump announced Truth Social on his online platform that he would speak to Putin the same day.
It is the sixth publicly known phone call between Putin and Trump since the start of the second term of office of the US president. The last conversation of the two so far took place in mid-June when Putin offered himself as an intermediary in the Middle East crisis for the Iranian nuclear program.
Trump’s efforts to mediate in the Ukraine War, on the other hand, have hardly made any progress. The Kremlin boss still rejects the idea of an unconditional ceasefire introduced by Trump. In the recently resumed direct talks between Kiev and Moscow about the end of the war, Russia adheres to its maximum claims.
