An attack in Tehran in mid -June apparently had a far -reaching consequences than previously known. According to the Iranian state media, President Masoud Pezeshkian was injured – if only slightly.

According to a state -related news agency, the new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has been injured in a presumably Israeli air raid on Tehran. The incident is said to have occurred on June 16, but was only now by the news agency Fars made public that is close to the revolutionary guard.

It would be the first time that an incumbent president of the Islamic Republic is said to have been affected by an Israeli attack on Iranian soil. The Mullah leadership in Tehran has not yet officially commented on the reports.

Israel’s Air Force regularly carries out hidden operations against destinations in Iran. Among other things, there are facilities of the nuclear program or positions of the revolutionary guards. The alleged attack in June was part of a series of retaliation after the massive Iranian drone and rocket offensive on Israel in April. According to the air strike, unconfirmed reports were killed by several high -ranking officials of the revolutionary guards.

Pezeshkian’s injury raises new questions: Why was the information held back for almost four weeks, and what influence does the incident have on the balance of power in the country? Pezeshkian is considered a comparatively moderate politician. In conservative circles, the message is likely to put its position under pressure – or be instrumentalized in order to justify a harder gait towards Israel.
