According to media reports, the Pentagon’s supervisory board sees significant risks from US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s handling of sensitive military data. According to CNN and ABC News, an investigative report concludes that Hegseth shared highly sensitive operational details via the app Signal in March in preparation for an attack on the Houthi militia in Yemen, potentially endangering US soldiers.

US Central Command has established the new Task Force Scorpion Strike (TFSS). It forms the first operational squadron of the US armed forces with so-called one-way attack drones – colloquially known as kamikaze drones – in the Middle East.

The unit relies in particular on so-called LUCAS drones (Low-Cost Uncrewed Combat Attack System), which, according to US information, have a long range, can fly autonomously and were developed as cost-effective attack weapons. The system is based on a US replica of the Iranian Shahed-136 drone – and is intended to act as a deterrent for Iran.

The creation of the TFSS follows a directive from US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to more quickly procure affordable drone technology and make it available in missions.

US Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released new images and video footage from Jeffrey Epstein’s private island in the US Virgin Islands on Wednesday. According to the committee, these are previously unpublished recordings.

The pictures show, among other things, bedrooms, bathrooms, an office and a room with masks on the wall in which there is apparently a dentist’s chair. There are also exterior shots of the sprawling property – including palm trees, sea views and a swimming pool. One of the photos also shows a landline phone with several first names on the speed dial buttons, some names are blacked out.

“These new images offer a chilling glimpse into the world of Jeffrey Epstein and his island,” said US Democrat Robert Garcia. “We will not rest until we bring justice to the survivors.”
