The US ambassador in Paris, Charles Kushner, was supposed to be at the French Foreign Ministry on Monday evening, but did not comply with the summons. This came after the US government commented on the death of the ultra-right student Quentin Deranque. “In view of this apparent lack of understanding of the basic expectations of an ambassador,” French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has asked that Kushner “no longer have direct access to members of the French government,” the French Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
However, Kushner would be allowed to continue carrying out his diplomatic duties and “exchange” with officials, the statement added.
