According to the NVI, 92 to 95 percent of the votes cast for the national list will be counted on the evening of the election, depending on the turnout figures. Furthermore, 94 to 97 percent of the votes cast for the candidates in the individual constituencies are counted.
According to the announcement, the final result of the Hungarian election could be delayed by up to a week. If there is a close result, the final figures will probably not be available until the Saturday after the general election.
“If the election result is close, it is possible that the election results in individual constituencies or on the national list will change compared to the provisional data from election day, even if 100 percent of the votes have been counted,” the statement concludes. This is where constituency reform comes into play, giving Orbán’s Fiddesz party an advantage in the election. Accordingly, Magyar and his Tisza party would have to gain a vote advantage of eight to twelve percentage points in order to achieve electoral success.
