Donald Trump emphasizes that there are only two genders: male and female. The highest US court strengthens its anti-transgender policies. The last word has not yet been spoken.
US President Donald Trump has achieved an interim victory in his anti-transgender policy before the highest US court. The Supreme Court overturned a block by lower courts prohibiting the Trump administration from allowing only male and female genders on U.S. passports.
At the time, Trump tried to force people to declare the gender they were assigned at birth. However, trans people do not identify with this gender.
The Supreme Court sent the case back to the lower court. The case is not yet closed.
A few years ago, the abbreviation X was introduced in passports in the USA so that people who define themselves as neither female nor male had another option.
Trump is pursuing a rigid gender policy in his second term in office. For example, he advocated that trans people who were assigned male at birth should not be allowed to participate in female sports teams.
