According to Prime Minister Netanyahu, Israel supports a peace plan of US President Trump. This is what the plan looks like for an end to the Gaza War.
Israel accepts the plan of US President Donald Trump to terminate the Gaza War with the Islamist Palestinian organization Hamas. “I support your plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a meeting with Trump in Washington. From the Hamas circles it was said that the terrorist organization had received the proposal from the Qatar and Egyptian intermediaries. Accordingly, the Islamists want to “carefully check the plan” before they give an official answer.
In Europe, the plan met with approval – combined with the statement that the ball is now at Hamas. Federal Foreign Minister Johann WadePhul spoke of a “unique opportunity” that should not be wasted. “I urgently ask everyone who can influence Hamas to do this now,” said the CDU politician. French President Emmanuel Macron said that Hamas had “no other choice than to leave all hostages free and to follow this plan”. The British Prime Minister Keir Strander emphasized that Great Britain called up all sides to work with the US government in order to complete and implement the agreement.
Netanyahu said about the role of PA: He appreciates Trump’s attitude “that the PA cannot play a role in Gaza without a radical and real transformation.” He also emphasized that civil administration in the Gaza Strip was neither led by Hamas nor by the PA in the West Bank.
It is currently unclear whether Hamas will agree to the plan. So far, the Islamists rejected about a disarmament.
In the past few months, various suggestions have been discussed on the question of how the Gaza Strip should be secured and managed after a possible end of the war. In this context, Trump had brought the idea into play to take control of the area and to move the Palestinian population into third countries to transform Gaza into a “Riviera of the Middle East”.
The proposal met with sharp criticism both internationally and in the USA. According to experts, people would displace the Gaza Strip to displace international law. The 20-point plan now said: “Nobody will be forced to leave Gaza.” Those who wanted to go could do this and “also return”. One will “encourage” people to stay.
