Türkiye’s natural gas imports increased by 35.9 percent in March compared to the same month of the previous year and was 5 billion 996 million cubic meters.
According to the “Natural Gas Market Sector Report of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority, 3 billion 394 million cubic meters of imports were made through pipelines and 2 billion 601 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities.
Total natural gas imports increased by 35.9 percent in March compared to the same month of the previous year and increased to 5 billion 996 million cubic meters.
In March, the highest pipe gas imports were made from Russia with 1 billion 790 million cubic meters. This was followed by Azerbaijan with 1 billion 43 million cubic meters and Iran with 561 million cubic meters.
During this period, 1 billion 490 million cubic meters from the United States, 642 million cubic meters from Algeria, 210 million cubic meters from Nigeria, 191 million cubic meters from Cameroon, 66 million cubic meters of LNG from Greece was imported.
Gas consumption in residences increased by 35.9 percent
Total natural gas consumption in the country increased by 22.3 percent in March compared to the same month of the previous year and was 7 billion 85 million cubic meters.
Natural gas consumption in houses increased by 3 billion 828 million cubic meters to 3 billion 828 million cubic meters. Natural gas consumption of the industrial sector increased by 0.5 percent to 1 billion 158 million cubic meters.
Natural gas consumption in electrical power plants increased by 7.7 percent to 870 million cubic meters.
Türkiye’s natural gas stock amount decreased by 26.6 percent in March compared to the same month of last year, approximately 3 billion 38 million cubic meters.
Approximately 2 billion 641 million cubic meters of natural gas stock is located in underground storage facilities and 397 million cubic meters in LNG terminals.
