Donald Trump’s former advisor Elon Musk wants to redesign the United States’ two-party system. He already gets a mood to found a new party.

Elon Musk, former advisor to US President Donald Trump and Tech entrepreneur, is considering the founding of a new party. The head of SpaceX and Tesla began a survey of his 221 million followers on its platform X. “Independence day is the perfect time to ask whether you want independence from the two -party system (some would say: one -party system),” he wrote.

The entrepreneur was an important helper for Donald Trump in the election campaign and after the election victory, he collected millions of dollars in support. But the relationship broke up, especially because of Musk’s criticism of Trump’s tax laws and spending policy. He recently called on the “Great, Beautiful Law” of Trump, which was decided by the congress on Friday.

After eight hours, 770,858 votes have already been submitted. 63 percent voted to found a new party, 36 percent voted against it. The vote should run by European time until Saturday morning.

Musk does not necessarily want to be as big as the Republicans or the Democrats. “One possibility … would be to concentrate on just two or three seats in the Senate and 8 to 10 districts in the House of Representatives. In view of the wafer -thin voting results, this would be sufficient to make the decisive factor in controversial laws and ensure that they correspond to the true will of the people,” wrote Musk on X. The new party should be independent and negotiate with Democrats and Republicans.

Around 40 percent of Americans would support Elon Musk if he founded a third political party, as a new survey showed. This is to challenge the Republicans and the Democrats. According to the survey carried out by Quantus Insights, 14 percent of the voters stated that they would support or vote for a political organization that was launched by the Tesla boss, reports the British “independent”. 26 percent said that they would “rather” do this. Another 38 percent said they would probably not support Musk, while 22 percent replied that they were “unsure”.

The reactions were mixed in the comments on X. Some of his followers believed that he would rather help the Republicans to expand their majority. The Libertarian Party spoke up and pointed out that there was already an alternative with it. “The Libertarian Party is already available, with access to 50 elections in the states, a long existing infrastructure and the backbone to defend themselves against the existing parties”.

Another commentator referred to Ross Perot, who received 19 percent of the vote as an independent presidential candidate in 1992. Four years later, he went into the race for the reform party he founded, but received only 8.4 percent of the vote. His party still exists, but no longer matters politically. In 2024 she caused a sensation again when she nominated Robert F. Kennedy as a presidential candidate. He is now a health minister under Donald Trump.

In addition to the Libertarian Party, there is also the Greens in the United States, who, among other things, set up consumer protection Ralph Nader as presidential candidates. Nevertheless, no party has so far been able to compete with the Democrats and Republicans and thus the two-party system in the United States.
