The US judiciary determines Josh Shapiro after the fire attack on “attempted murder”. The Democrat also receives encouragement from the Republicans.

According to US police, he acted on one of the most prominent politicians in the Democrats: A 38-year-old has to answer for “attempted murder” at the Governor of the US state of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro. The public prosecutor also accused the man on Monday for “terrorism, serious arson and severe attack on an official”.

The suspect was arrested after the governors’ residence in Pennsylvania’s capital Harrisburg was partially burned down on Sunday night. According to the authorities, recordings of surveillance cameras show how the attacker climbed over a fence, entered the building and triggered the fire with self -made molotov cocktails.

According to police, the alleged perpetrator said that he felt “hate against Shapiro”. If he had encountered the governor in his residence, he would have “hit him with a hammer”. It was initially unclear whether the 38-year-old’s hatred of Shapiro’s political beliefs or possibly against his Jewish faith.

At the time of the attack, he was in another part of the house. The fire could be deleted, nobody was injured. Shapiro had held a celebration on the occasion of the Jewish Pessach Festival in the evening.

The governor condemned any form of political violence. “This type of violence is far too common in our society,” said Shapiro before his residence. “I don’t care whether it comes from one side or the other, it’s not okay and it has to stop.” In the background there was a window blackened by flames.

President Donald Trump’s republicans also condemned the arson attack. Vice President JD Vance spoke of “really disgusting violence” and said that the person responsible had to be “quickly” held accountable. Justice Minister Pam Bondi “deeply relieved” that nothing had happened.

The 51-year-old Shapiro has been governor of Pennsylvania since 2023 and is considered one of the most prominent politicians in the Democratic Party in the United States. Before the presidential election last year, Shapiro was acted as a possible vice candidate for the democratic presidential applicant Kamala Harris. But she finally moved with the governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, as her vice against Trump. Shapiro is considered a possible applicant for the presidential election 2028.
