Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, regarding the unemployment figures announced today, said, “Increasing confidence and predictability, improved expectations and structural steps will support production, employment and exports in the coming period.” made his assessment

Minister Şimşek’s evaluation is as follows;

“Labor force indicators are more positive than our program targets, the unemployment rate was low at 8.6 percent in September.

The contraction in industrial production, which started in the second quarter, continued in the third quarter, although it slowed down. This development was driven by Europe’s weak demand and the short-term temporary effects of our steps to strengthen macro-financial stability on growth.

“In the coming period, more supportive global conditions, increased confidence and predictability, improved expectations and structural steps will support production, employment and exports.”
