China strongly condemns the US attack on Venezuela. “China is deeply shocked by the blatant use of force by the United States against a sovereign state and its president and strongly condemns it,” the state news agency Xinhua quoted a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying. “Such hegemonic actions by the United States seriously violate international law and the sovereignty of Venezuela and threaten peace and security in Latin America and the Caribbean,” the spokesman was quoted as saying. China firmly rejects this.
President Nicolás Maduro, who was captured in a US attack in Venezuela, arrived in the US on Saturday. An AFP reporter observed that Maduro was escorted off a plane at Stewart Airport, north of New York. From there he was to be taken by helicopter to New York, where he would be tried for “conspiracy to commit drug terrorism.”
According to insiders, Venezuela’s oil exports are at a standstill. Port captains are not receiving requests to authorize the departure of loaded ships, say four people familiar with the process. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife are reportedly being taken to the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), a federal prison in Brooklyn. The facility is known for hosting prominent “celebrities” such as Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, Luigi Mangione, Ghislaine Maxwell, P Diddy and Sam Bankman-Fried. The prison is known for its dilapidated condition, unsanitary conditions and unsafe conditions, according to news site Axios.
