More than 140 people died in an attack on an event center near Moscow in March 2024. Now the assassin has been convicted.
Two years after the devastating attack on a concert hall near Moscow that left more than 140 dead, four defendants were sentenced to life in prison. A court in Moscow announced the verdict on Thursday against the four men from Tajikistan who opened fire at the Crocus City Hall in the Moscow suburb of Krasnogorsk on March 22, 2024. In the worst attack on Russian soil in more than 20 years, 149 people were killed and more than 600 others were injured.
During the attack, armed men entered the Crocus City Hall in the Moscow suburb of Krasnogorsk and opened fire. They then set the building on fire. The Islamic State (IS) jihadist militia claimed responsibility for the crime. Russian authorities nevertheless tried to link Ukraine to the attack. Kyiv had rejected the allegations.
