This year, kindergarten fees are almost competing with private university fees. The exorbitant increase in prices is putting financial pressure on families. Some nurseries and kindergartens, especially in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, While the annual tuition fee varies between 200 and 300 thousand TL, the prices in ecol schools are close to one million TL. While the prices do not include food and service charges, parents are still upset they are thinking about what to do.
THE GAPS BETWEEN DISTRICTS
On the other hand, parents’ problems are not limited to this. With only a few days left until schools open, the quotas of many educational institutions have been filled. Parents who are late in registering are forced to pay higher amounts, while there are price gaps between districts in Istanbul. For example, while there are kindergartens in Esenyurt with annual tuition fees of 30 to 40 thousand TL, these figures go up to 300 thousand TL in districts such as Etiler, Levent and Kadıköy.
PAY ATTENTION TO FAMILY BUDGET
Private Kindergarten Association President Hacı Murat Kuş, while talking about the increasing kindergarten prices, said, “The Ministry of National Education says that it can divide the TEFE and TÜFE figures in half and make an additional increase of up to 5 percent. However, this figure is only the tuition fee. In addition to these, there are also cost items such as stationery, food and clothing. Or, the fact that the school provides education in another language is another factor that increases the cost.” Kuş also listed the details to be considered when choosing a kindergarten and stated that the fee to be paid to the school should not exceed 1/3 of the family budget.
OPEN AGREEMENT DETAIL
TÜKONFED Deputy Chairman Lawyer İbrahim Güllü stated that private schools have to announce their fees by the end of May, otherwise last year’s figures will be used, and said, “They can request additional fees such as books, stationery, study, and food. In this case, even if the parent has received that service, they do not have to pay them if they did not sign an open agreement at the beginning.” Güllü added that parents can report exorbitant prices to the Ministry of Education.
KINDERGARTEN PRICES
The prices of some kindergartens in Istanbul are as follows:
-Enka Schools are in the first place with their million-dollar prices. The school’s annual tuition fee is announced as 1 million 133 thousand TL, while 110 thousand TL is requested as a meal fee.
-Koç Schools’ kindergarten is also at the top of the list with its million-dollar price. The institution’s kindergarten education alone costs 1 million 100 thousand TL.
-While the kindergarten fee of Beşiktaş Kabataş Foundation Schools was announced as 385 thousand TL, the cost of 3 meals a day is 70 thousand TL.
-TED Rönesans College’s price varies between 373 thousand TL and 393 thousand TL.
-FMV Işık Schools, Nişantaşı Campus price starts from 278 thousand TL, but as the number of installments increases, this figure can go up to 400 thousand TL. The institution’s school price in Ispartakule varies between 165-315 thousand TL.
