Istoc, which grows with domestic production, is preparing to become a global player

İstoc, which is known as the heart of wholesale trade in Türkiye and hosts thousands of companies from 42 different sectors, is preparing to meet a major trade meeting with Istoc Fest between 18-21 June. The organization aims to host approximately 20 thousand purchasers, 4 thousand from abroad.

İSTOÇ Businessmen Social Assistance and Solidarity Association (İSTOÇDER) President Ahmet Acar said that they aim to reach a trade volume of $ 1.5 billion in these four -day event. Acar, 70 %of the products sold in ISTOÇ are domestic production and this ratio is increasing, emphasizing that ISTOÇ companies last year’s exports reached 6.1 billion dollars, he said.

Europe’s largest, the world’s second largest wholesaler center

Stating that the foundations of Istoç were laid in 1979, Acar said that the cooperative, which was established in 1984 with 52 partners, spread over an area of ​​1.1 million square meters today. Acar, “Today we have 7 thousand 200 businesses and 4 thousand 300 members. Europe is the largest and the second largest wholesale trade center in the world,” he said.

90 million dollars per day trade, 100 thousand people employment

ISTOÇ directly 100 thousand, indirectly provides employment to 400 thousand people, Acar said, approximately 500 thousand people entering every day in ISTOÇ’da daily trade volume of 90 million dollars, he said.

Exports are increasing, the share of domestic production is increasing

Although intensive imports from China in the first years, the balance has changed in favor of domestic production since 2010. Acar said that approximately 70 %of the products that are currently sold are produced in Türkiye and this is reflected in the exports positively. “If it was a province, it would be the eighth most exporting province in Türkiye,” he said.

Opening abroad with İSTOÇ Fest

Acar said that they want to make İSTOÇ recognized not only in Türkiye but also in the international arena.

İstoc Fest and a thousand companies will participate in a major trade meeting that will hold Acar, while providing the mobilization of the market inside, they aim to increase awareness abroad, he said. At the festival, participating companies will organize various discounts and gift campaigns and customers will be offered maturity facilities.

Future Plan: Larger, export -oriented events in November

Acar said that this organization, which was previously made only in the glassware, will now be enlarged to cover all sectors, “We will make Istoc Fest completely focused on export by fixing it to November from next year. Our goal is to increase the foreign participant rate from 20 %to 80 %.”

Logistics Center demand

Expressing that one of the biggest problems of İstoç tradesmen is traffic and storage, Acar said that a large logistics center should be established on the North Marmara road. Thus, he said that trade can be carried out more regularly and faster.
