Ahmed al-Rahaui died in an attack on the city of Sanaa. With him, several ministers of the parallel government led by the Huthi died.
According to the organization, the Prime Minister of the Huthi Miliz in Yemen was killed in an Israeli air raid. In the capital Sanaa, Ahmed Al-Rahaui died with several ministers, the Huthi said. According to the militia supported by Iran, other members were also injured in the attack on a meeting. Israel had previously stated that he had hit a “military goal” of the Huthi.
Al-Rahaui had been appointed head of government by the Huthi last year, but according to observers, however, was only considered a political symbolic figure without any significant power. The Huthi have formed a kind of parallel government in the areas they have controlled, including the capital Sanaa. This government has no international recognition.
Israel had attacked the Yemeni capital Sanaa on Thursday. According to its own statements, the Israeli Air Force bombed a “military goal of the Huthi terror regime” in the Sanaa area. Israeli media reported that the attack had taken up high -ranking representatives of the militia. As part of the attack, Al-Rahaui and the ministers were apparently also killed.
Defense Minister Israel Katz’s office had published a picture of the attack on which the minister, together with the chief of staff Ejal Zamir and other military headquarters, can be seen in the military headquarters. “Anyone whoever raises their hand against Israel will be chopped off,” said Minister Katz, according to the message. Already last Sunday, Israel flew attacks in Sanaa – at least ten people were killed.
The killing of Al-Rahauis is a setback for the Huthi, even if the actual leadership continues to be with militia chief Abdel Malik al-Huthi. The organization announced that it will continue her work in Sanaa and north of the country.
The Huthi are part of the so -called “axis of resistance” under Iranian influence, which also includes Hamas in the Gaza Strip and the Hisbollah in Lebanon. Since the beginning of the Gaza War, they have repeatedly attacked Israel with rockets and drones and also attack merchant ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Their declared goal is the fight against Israel and the USA.
