According to a media report, the USA, Iran and regional mediators are currently negotiating the conditions for a possible 45-day ceasefire. This could lead to a permanent end to the war, the news portal Axios reported on Sunday (local time), citing four US, Israeli and regional insiders who are familiar with the relevant discussions. An agreement will be discussed in two phases.
First, the 45-day ceasefire should come into force
to negotiate a final end to the fighting. In the second phase, a corresponding agreement should then be concluded, according to the report. The ceasefire could be extended if necessary. The Reuters news agency was initially unable to independently verify the report. The White House and the US State Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity and Water also said two electricity and seawater desalination plants were damaged by a drone attack from Iran, resulting in “significant property damage and the shutdown of two power generation units.” The Treasury Department said an Iranian drone strike in Kuwait City caused “extensive” damage to a government building. However, there were “no human casualties recorded”. The Kuwaiti army later said on online service X that its air defense was currently responding to “enemy missile and drone threats.”
In Bahrain, the state-owned energy company said an Iranian drone attack caused a fire in a storage tank that was later extinguished. Meanwhile, local authorities in the United Arab Emirates reported that the port of Khor Fakkan on the east coast of the Gulf state, not far from the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, was the target of an attack. Four people were injured by falling debris that was caused when the projectile, which was not identified by the authorities, was intercepted.
