Israel attacked the Huthis goals in Yemen. However, there is also an attack on a merchant ship.

Israel attacked the Huthi militia’s goals in Yemen. Air Force and Marine attacked “terrorist infrastructure” of the proiran rebels in the ports of Hodeida, Ras Isa and Salif, as the Israeli army announced on Sunday. In addition, the armed forces attacked a power plant in Ras al-cathib. The ports hit would be used by the Huthis to postpone weapons from Iran “that are used for terrorist missions against the state of Israel and its allies,” it said.

In Ras Isa, the army hit the freighter “Galaxy Leader”, which the Huthis had hijacked in November 2023. According to the Israeli information, the militia had installed a radar system on the ship with which it observed shipping.

According to their own statements, the Huthis had captured the crew for a year and released in the Gaza Strip in January of this year during the ceasefire between Israel and the radical Islamic Hamas. The tel-Masirah television station controlled by the Huthis also reported on the Israeli attacks in Hodeida, Ras Isa, Salif and Ras al-Kathib.

Before Hodeida, the rebels had once again attacked a merchant ship with armored fists and other weapons on Sunday, as the British authority for Maritime Security (UKMTO) reported. Security forces would have returned the fire. Ships were asked to drive the area carefully. The crew finally took up a passing merchant ship. Everyone is doing well and they are safe.

The Huthis control a large part of Yemen, including the capital Sanaa. In addition to the Hisbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, they belong to the “axis of resistance” listed by Iran and directed against Israel and the USA. The declared goal is to annihilate Israel. In November 2023, shortly after the start of the Gaza War triggered by the terrorist organization Hamas, the Huthis had started to attack in the Red Sea and in the Gulf of Aden merchant ships with alleged reference to Israel, including US trade ships.

The United States and its allies have responded to this with attacks on Huthi goals in Yemen since the beginning of 2024. After severe air raids from the United States in Yemen, the Huthi actually approved a ceasefire in May. Since then, there have been no major incidents. The US attacks in Iran in June may have prompted the militia to take the attacks in the Red Sea again. At first there was no explanation of the Huthi.

The Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea leads one of the most important shipping routes for world trade. Many shipping companies continue to avoid the route because of the danger from Huthi attacks, in which crew members were killed or injured and ships were damaged or even sunk. The attacks have massive effects on ship trading and have caused economic damage in billions of bills.
