In the Iran War, the United States offered a high reward for the capture of the new Iranian supreme leader, Moschtaba Khamenei. The US State Department announced on Friday that it would pay ten million dollars (around 8.7 million euros) for information about the whereabouts of Khamenei or other high-ranking officials. Iran has strongly rejected US President Donald Trump’s statements about the state of Iran’s navy and air forces. “The US claims that the Iranian navy is destroyed (…) Then it is permissible to ask why the Strait of Hormuz is still closed and no tanker can pass through it,” said Mohammed Akbarsadeh, deputy commander of the Revolutionary Guards Navy, according to the IRNA news agency.
Trump had previously written on his Truth Social platform that the Iranian navy had disappeared, the air force no longer existed, and missiles, drones and everything else would be destroyed. “Again the question: why do Iran’s missiles and drones hit their intended targets at regular intervals,” countered Akbarsadeh.
After threats from Tehran, US President Donald Trump says the credibility of Iran’s new supreme leader, Moschtaba Khamenei, is being put to the test. “They talk a lot, so now he’s going to have to deliver,” Trump told Fox News Radio, referring to the threats from Tehran.
The Italian government has denied a media report that Italy and France are negotiating with Iran for the safe conduct of their ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Rome said there had been no “bilateral negotiations or direct talks with Iran to ensure the passage of Italian ships through the Strait of Hormuz.” The Élysée Palace did not initially respond to a request for comment on the report.
