Last year, natural gas distribution companies in Türkiye realized 15 billion TL network and improvement investment.
According to the Sector Report of Türkiye Natural Gas Distributors (GAZBİR), the total number of natural gas supply was provided instead of 63 new settlements with the investments made last year and reached 909 in 81 provinces.
While the population of natural gas throughout Türkiye increased to 72.5 million, the population, which has access to natural gas, was calculated as 85 percent.
The number of natural gas subscribers increased by over 1 million in 2024 compared to the previous year and increased to 21.8 million. Türkiye is the 3rd country in Europe, the most natural gas subscribers.
The city with the highest number of subscribers in Türkiye was Istanbul with 5.7 million, this city was followed by Ankara with 2 million subscribers, Bursa with 1,1 million subscribers, İzmir with 970 thousand subscribers and Kocaeli with 720 thousand subscribers. The biggest increase in the number of subscribers was seen in Istanbul with 76 thousand, Izmir with 60 thousand and Gaziantep with 43 thousand.

Natural gas consumption increased by 6 percent last year compared to the previous year, 53 billion cubic meters, while housing industry and power plants natural gas consumption constituted 86 percent of total consumption.
Last year, the amount of gas consumed in houses increased by 13 percent compared to the previous year and increased to 19 billion cubic meters and the share of houses in natural gas consumption was 36 percent. 75 percent of the gas consumed in residences was used for heating purposes and the remaining 25 percent was used for cooking and hot water purposes.
When the distribution of natural gas consumption according to the provinces, Istanbul was in the first place with 8.25 billion cubic meters and Kocaeli with 4.6 billion cubic meters and Kocaeli with 3.9 billion cubic meters.
The amount of gas consumed in the industry was 13.4 billion cubic meters with an increase of 10 percent compared to the previous year and the amount of natural gas consumed for electricity generation decreased by 4 percent was 13.5 billion cubic meters.
